What we look for - Consultant

Apart from those promoted from the Associate cohort, most of our Consultants arrive at BCG looking for a change in career and see strategy consulting as an exciting new challenge. They have several years of business experience and have usually completed an MBA (or sometimes a PhD or Law degree).

Our Consultants enjoy an exciting and dynamic job . . . often challenging but always filled with learning, insight and a feeling of accomplishment.

Like our Associates, Consultants take on a variety of tasks, ranging from executing innovative financial analysis and consumer research to articulating breakthrough strategies and operational plans.

Consultants sometimes find themselves helping clients turn strategies into action in the field,  and other times helping senior executives articulate their most important global strategies to their Boards of Directors.    Either way they work to develop insight and to turn that insight into real impact.

Because of their experience in the workplace, Consultants are expected to have a good understanding of business, strategy and competitive dynamics. As a result, Consultants are often asked to take on even more responsibility than Associates.

After 2 to 3 successful years as a Consultant, you can expect to be promoted to Project Leader. This role involves leading teams on a day-to-day basis, with greater responsibility for work output and client management.
