BCG Greater China is an important part of BCG’s Asia Pacific system. The firm has been operating in the region since 1966, when Tokyo became BCG’s second office after Boston. Today, BCG Asia Pacific is a thriving system of over 900 staff across 16 offices: Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Bangkok, Seoul, Jakarta, Singapore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Beijing, Nagoya and Taipei. BCG pioneered the development of strategy consulting in Greater China in the 1980s. Our 1990 establishment of an office in Hong Kong confirmed our long-term commitment to China. The opening of our Shanghai office in 1993 made us the first multinational consulting firm with a joint venture in China. In 2001, we opened our Beijing office to better serve our large and growing base of Greater China clients. BCG has had a presence in Taipei since the mid 1990s, when we routinely handled work for local and multinational clients by flying in consultants from our Hong Kong office. Now Taipei, BCG's newest office in Greater China, is a key component of the firm's continuing growth in the region. Across Greater China, we operate as one consulting practice, with integrated staffing, training, and career development. Client projects are staffed from offices across our Greater China practice. As BCG Greater China expands and China's importance in global business grows, our practice is becoming an increasingly important part of BCG's global office network. Consultants in Greater China serve local Chinese clients and multinational companies who are striving to grow profitably in China and to leverage China as a sourcing and manufacturing base. In addition, our staff provides intellectual leadership in areas of critical importance to BCG, including our globalization practice. Now is an exciting time to be helping to shape the future of BCG Greater China – indeed, the future of business in the Greater China region.
